Embroidery - By Machine or By Hand

Applique with my embroidery machine

I have a Singer XL-1000. I have a new card which enables me to do applique. The problem I have is that the adhesive (I usually use Wonder Under or something like that) that I use to iron the applique fabric to the base fabric gums up on the needle and causes my thread to break. Does anyone know of a special kind of needle that will not allow this to happen?

I keep saying I want one of these things, but I think I'd end up spending all my time doing embroidery!

Does anyone know what software and what machine I should be looking into buying for my business?? I want to embroider a cutom logo on my products and I would like to do it from my Mac. New Post Singer Quantum XL-5000 Hi - I have recently purchased an embroidery machine and I need some help using it. I have been on the phone just about everyday for the past 2 weeks with Singer and/or SewingInUSA trying to get help, but the problem is still not solved. Is there anyone out there that is using this machine or one similar. I am trying to download a design from the computer and I can't get the sewing machine to receive the design???
